Week 10 Inside of class

Today in class we did an anonymous critique with the class.

• Adding some details to the bags before the king
• Or just keeping the outline on the bags 
• Having some of the elements having some outlines like the clock and the king. 
• The color helps the scene with the forrest and the background is more effective. 
• Maybe add a plus sign between the elements like the house and the donkey
• Maybe slightly abbreviate the scene with the brothers. 
• Watch some of the background movement. 
• The music sees a-lot louder compared to the narration. 
• some scenes the lighting seems to add a glare. 

week 9 outside

During the week outside of class I really was working on making more elements. For the most part this week I was making some of the changes suggested from the last class. I also added a walking cat scene.

For this scene I have the cat returning from the forrest carrying a gift for the king. 

I added puss in boots talking form the table. 

And lastly I continued puss bringing some of the gifts to the king. 

Week 9 Inside of class

• Some of the feedback that I received was to change up some of my backgrounds. 
• have more distinction between the brothers faces. 
• have the youngest brother move down instead of up 
• work on having more stability
• make sure that the lighting has less changes. 

One of the things that I did was give the brothers different noses and eyes. I think that also adding some wrinkles to the older brother helped to give the older brother more age. I also decreased the size of the clouds that appeared above the brother. I feel like this way helps to give it more shape. 

I thought about changing the background to the green to help the brothers stand out more before I had a more faded pink and blue look. 

Week 8 Outside of class

This week outside of class we had to complete 25% of the stop motion. For this I began drawing all of my elements in procreate. One of the things that I was thinking bout was how I was going to draw the cat. I knew that I wanted him to look different from the shrek depiction.

Initial setup: for my setup I am using my cannon camera and brining the images that i take into premier pro. I think that this would be easier so that I could adjust all the lengths of images the way I need to.

Week 7 Outside of class

Puss in Boots: I think that this is a more serious folk tale that I think I could put a cute twist on. Most people associate puss in boots as the Shrek, character but there was actually a whole story to this tricky little cat. When the cat Is passed down to the youngest brother, he thinks that he has now received the burdening task of taking care of this cat. but then it turns out that the cat becomes friends with the king of the land, and lands his owner a bunch of fortune. The cat essentially sets up the king and lands his owner a marriage with the king's Daughter. and after the king dies the cat's owner now has the role of the king.

One of the things that I would like to highlight on with this story is how the true narrative went. Most people know he is a con artist but he actually was looking for fortune for his poor owner. I am looking to summarize everything but also Highlight on the main points. like how puss in boots was passed down, and how he blossomed the friendship with the king. Some of the things that I am still questioning is how I will portray puss in boots. I don't want to fall into the stereotypical tabby illustration but, do something a little more fun.

Brainstorming for Stop Motion

Medusa: One of the things that I find interesting about the medusa story is all of the mixed feelings about her. Some don't understand all of the negative feelings towards her and others think that she is simply cold-hearted. Most people don't know that she was not always considered a monster. She was once a very beautiful woman. She remained a fateful woman in order to be a practice of Athena. Men from all over were struck by medusas beauty and were traveling from all over to see her beauty. Posiden then saw medusa and wanted her, since she was seen as an attribute to Athena. He got tired of waiting and decided to take her by force. Athena then appeared and decided to punished medusa. she turned her hair into venomous snakes, which would turn all men into stone. I think that this would be an interesting story to follow since she is a very misunderstood character. Most people don't understand the rape that she ensued which turned her into this monster. She only had the purest intentions and ultimately had to face her death 

 

Cleopatra: My main idea for this one would be to determine who she was. and how she died. Cleopatra was one of the smartest women that ruled Egypt. at the age of 21 she spoke 8 languages. many people considered her to be promiscuous since she had relationships with Marc Anthony and Julius Ceaser. She considered herself a goddess and had a firm rule over Egypt. So if she was now this successful why did she take her own life at the age of 38. Many say that she committed suicide in order to avoid being humiliated and paraded after her defeat.
